How did this come to our attention?

EAM realized the need for improved standards of living for the people of Bolgatanga where the founder comes from, and where his ministry has outreach

How did this come to our attention?

Due to the lack of drinking water, some of the affected rural communities are left to compete with livestock for the meagre water facilities left in the streams and ponds especially in the dry season (November to May). This has exacerbated the incidents of water-related diseases.

Precious time is also wasted in queues by women and children alike resulting in lower productivity and school dropout. For some time now, the Upper East Region has been faced with severe drought arising from climate change thereby compounding the already devastating plight of the rural folks. This current borehole project is therefore aimed at mitigating the current situation.

Winkogo-Alegpaledone, a rural community, in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region with an estimated population of over one thousand, one hundred (1,100) suffers from lack of adequate clean water supply. The community has only one borehole fitted with a hand pump. The inhabitants who are predominantly farmers have only a perennial pond that supplies water for their livestock and sometimes, serves as their water supply during the dry season (November to May)

Gbe and Zonne-Zoore are adjacent communities south east of Zuarangu in the Bolgatanga East District. These communities have an estimated population of about 1000 and 800, respectively. The communities rely on water from wells, which run dry during peak fetching hours in the day especially in the dry season which spans from November to May. There are also ponds of stagnant water which are used by both humans and animals.

The communities of Anayelebise and Alangabise are both located in the Zuarungu Moshie area of the Bolgatanga East District. Despite their close proximity to the regional capital, these communities are cut off and lack many basic amenities, including clean and safe drinking water. Residents as well as their livestock have had to rely on hand dug wells for their supply of water which frequently dries out, particularly during the dry season.

Clean water, sanitation, and hygiene education are basic necessities for a healthy environment and a productive life and well life being
